Can-Go Afar

OCM Manufacturing supports the Can-Go Afar Foundation. Through Can-Go Afar, OCM has sponsored 50% of the cost to install 50 Household BioSand Water Filters – a Canadian-patented innovation – to the village of Ko'odiya in the Afar region of Africa.

Ko'odiya is one of the most remote and driest corners of the globe. A lack of sanitary water leads to a high rate of death due to diarrhoea among the Afar people. The 50 filters donated by OCM and Can-Go Afar provided clean water to
1,200 people.

Global Action – Local Benefit
Sanitation is a global concern. OCM has made this contribution because we believe that spending a small amount of money to improve the quality of drinking water in Africa can benefit each of us and the whole world:

• Healthy populations increase self-sufficiency and enable stronger economies
• Clean water is the basis for sustainability
• Pandemics have taught us that we all have a stake in ensuring our neighbours' health

About the Household BioSand Water Filter

The concrete water filter pictured here is a remarkable Canadian-patented innovation. It is amazing for its simplicity and ability.

• Easily built from naturally available materials: sticks, gravel, sand and water
• Cleans contaminated water from rain, surface and ground sources into pure and safe drinking water
• Traps 90% of micro-organisms to create pure and safe drinking water
