OCM Manufacturing Notches Record Growth in Past Year

Ottawa-based EMS provider adds 14 small and mid-size customers in 2005

Local electronics contract manufacturer, OCM Manufacturing, announced today that it has marked its fifth consecutive year of 30 percent year-over-year growth. The company added 14 new customers to its roster since last year.

Michel Jullian, President and CEO, says that growth is attributable to a trend toward outsourcing by small and mid-sized electronics companies.

“It is increasingly apparent to many companies that the actual manufacturing of their products need not be done in house. In fact, manufacturing can be done more cost effectively by a dedicated manufacturer. We save our customers time, money and help free up resources so they can concentrate on what they do best: innovation, design, sales and marketing. They can shift the full weight of manufacturing and supply chain management to us,” he said.

OCM is ramping up lead-free manufacturing, and recently announced the addition of advanced component placement capabilities in its Thurston Drive facility. Through acquisition of Siemens SIPLACE F5HM technology, OCM can provide its customers with high-speed, large IC, advanced area array, and odd-form placement. The company expects the equipment will attract additional customers this year.
