Ottawa’s OCM Manufacturing Sees Sharp Jump in Business
Reports sharp jump in sales in the last two quarters of the year.
Ottawa-based custom electronics manufacturer, OCM Manufacturing, reported a sharp jump in sales in the last two quarters of the year.
New orders have prompted the 25-year-old contract electronics manufacturer to increase its workforce in the last few months. OCM believes the new business is an encouraging trend that will carry well into the New Year.
The new business represents a number of different electronics verticals. Industrial imaging, sensors, communications, and monitoring controls are just a few of the applications of the products and assemblies that OCM is building for customers. The new business growth is coming from existing customers, companies seeking new manufacturing relationships, and new start-up customers.
Mr. Henning said the new business is a sign that the economy and the local tech sector is on an upswing, particularly for companies that have specialized products that help industries reduce costs and become more efficient.
“We’re seeing new generations of electronic products with applications in traditional sectors like oil and gas that are bringing new efficiencies to companies. If a product has that kind of potential and is designed and manufactured efficiently, then there’s a good chance it will be successful in the market”, Mr. Henning said.
