OCM Manufacturing Selected to Manufacture Smart Card Readers for Pro-Active of France
Ottawa-based contract electronics manufacturer will provide France-based company with turnkey procurement, manufacturing, test, and aftermarket services for smart cards.
Ottawa, Canada and Palaiseau, France: Ottawa-based contract electronics manufacturer, OCM Manufacturing, today announced that is has been selected by Pro-Active of France as the North American manufacturer of the firm’s Smart Card readers.
Founded in 2000, Pro-Active develops, manufactures and markets a variety of electronic mobile identification devices, primarily RFID readers and Smart Card readers for the European market. The company’s readers are used in both contact and contactless applications.
OCM Manufacturing will provide turnkey services for Pro-Active’s North American activities, including procurement, assembly, test, quality assurance, warranty and repair services.

Pro-Active contactless readers are used in a range of Pocket PC handheld devices as well as for MIFARE, the world’s leading contactless smart card standard. It is a contactless smart card system consisting of card and reader components with a typical read/write distance of ten centimetres. They are used in hundreds of diverse applications – such as toll roads, airline ticketing, access control and phone cards. The company’s smart card readers are used on the Thalys train system in Europe, which links Paris, Cologne, Brussels and Amsterdam.
